SDCs are generally equipped with 1-atmosphere battery pods or Fathom Systems' Bell Emergency Battery Units – mounted on the outside of the bell (one for each diver). These are designed to provide an electrical supply for use in emergencies (e.g. lost bell) to power electrically heated diving suits.

As an extension to iBIS, Fathom Systems offer the bell internal Divers Heated Suits Junction Box equipped with three ON/OFF switches and three E-O connectors.  The electrically heated suits are plugged into the E-O connectors on the base of the junction box by divers, then the appropriate switch is operated to power the suits.
