Torque Control Module

This assembly is referred to as the Torque Control Module due to its most common use in the 3 or 5-function smart torque tool controller. However, this versatile module also lends itself to other ‘high flow, high pressure’ functions such as hydraulic motors and pumps which require a degree of pressure control. It is therefore used in system configurations other than the torque tool controller. A subsea diamond wire cutting tool is a prime example of how this module may be used where the cut can be accurately controlled once the operator has the system set-up correctly – the Fathom Systems software allows for precision control of the regulated pressure and flow/output to the motor, thus controlling the speed and cut with ease and accuracy.

The Torque Control Module with integrated electronic circuitry accommodates a single bi-directional* NG6 valve and a single vertical mount Hydraforce proportional pressure reducing valve (PRV). Hydraulic system pressure measurement transducers are installed upstream and downstream of the PRV, their data being displayed on the topside GUI software which also allows complete control of the PRV. Although not essential, we recommend the fitting of a pressure relief valve module to the underside of this module, particularly for torque tool operations as a means of protecting the tool motor.
